Unfortunately with the closing of Los Angeles County
Raceway, so went Pontiac Drag Days long run as the country's premier Pontiac
bracket series. We thank all of our racers who made Pontiac Drag Days an
outstanding program—packed with fun and camaraderie. We still do get together
from time-to-time for events at other venues and just for the fun of it at car
shows.

About Pontiac Drag
Days
Pontiac Drag Days
was launched in 1994 and was the country's longest running regularly scheduled
Pontiac drag race series of its type. Whether a 9 second full boogie race machine or a 19 second grocery
getter, Pontiac Drag Days offered a venue for all levels of the Pontiac enthusiast.
Be it a pristine, original owner Tri-Power GTO, a custom Street Rod
or a fully modified Drag Car, Pontiac Drag Days is the race series for
you! From classic GTOs and Firebirds to today's contemporary Trans Ams and
GTPs, all Pontiacs are welcome at Pontiac Drag Days.
Founded
by Pontiac enthusiasts in Southern California, Pontiac Drag Days operated
an eight (8) race series at Los Angeles County Raceway (Southern California). Competitors were local hobbyists, many members of Southern California GTOAA and POCI Chapters. All
were
regularly joined
by such legends of the Pontiac drag racing scene as Jim Wangers, Pete McCarthy,
Jerry "The Judge" Young, and Ken Crocie. Arnie "The Farmer" Beswick
even made a couple of appearances at Pontiac Drag Days.
Pontiac
Drag Days was launched to offer local Pontiac hobbyists the opportunity
to display their lust for excitement;
Pontiac Excitement. Pontiac Drag Days provided a venue
focused on fun and sharing
in one another's excitement for our moniker. Beyond our regularly
scheduled bracket series, our Tour de Wangers event grew into one of Southern California's largest
Pontiac family fun events. This "show & shine" open house at
Jim
Wangers automotive warehouse has drawn hundreds of Pontiyakers of all ages.
Pontiac Enthusiast
magazine
columnists, Stan Rarden, in his Sep/Oct '99 column, compared
the founding and success of Pontiac Drag Days to that of the NHRA and NASCAR. A comparison we are much honored to
have received.
Pontiac Drag Days' sponsors included some of the
best tuners, builders and suppliers on the Pontiac performance front; Pacific Performance Racing, Hubbe’s Performance Transmissions, M&H Electric Fabricators, Butler Performance
Group, SD Performance, HK Motorsports, AllPontiac.com, Pypes Exhaust,
4myPontiac.com
and Performance Years. We are very greatful for the support they
provided. We could not have done it without the support of these sponsors.
